Happy New Year (#1)

This year, our family will celebrate three New Years: Rosh Hashanah, Diwali, and January 1.

One down, two to go.

Rosh Hashanah came and went...at least for my family and me. For those that don't know about Rosh Hashanah, I think you can already tell what it is from the title. Or you can say: L'shana tova!

I am sure I learned about the holiday in hebrew school (but that was 15 years ago). I really, really thought I would do some research into the holiday, but that did not happen. For me, knowing it is the Jewish New Year and wishing happiness and health to family and friends was good enough for me. My mom made matzoh ball soup, challah, gelite fish - all the Jew foods I enjoy during holidays, so I felt content. Well, partially. In some ways I feel guilty for not knowing more, but I suppose if I truly wanted to learn, I would just look it up or speak to someone who is more familiar with the holiday than me.

Yom Kippur is coming up soon and it is considered the most holy Jewish holiday. I am making it a goal right now to do a little bit of research this year.

Diwali is coming up as well in a couple of weeks, so I will also attempt the above. I think I have a cool art project to do for that holiday.

For Rosh Hashanah night #2, we had night #1 left overs. That's what I call a good Jewish family :0)

Happy New Year until Diwali!
